He collaborated with many of the leading musicians and composers of the day, including the Spanish composer Joaquín Rodrigo, who wrote several pieces specifically for Amigo. His performance of Rodrigo's "Concierto de Aranjuez" was broadcast to millions of viewers around the world, and helped to cement his reputation as one of the world's greatest classical guitarists. In addition to his performing career, Amigo has also been active as a teacher and mentor to young musicians. He has taught at several prestigious music schools, including the Royal Conservatory of Madrid and the University of California, Los Angeles.
