Roger Wilkie is a renowned classical music artist who has made a significant contribution to the world of music. He was born on August 22, 1954, in Los Angeles, California, to a family of musicians. His father, John Wilkie, was a violinist, and his mother, Mary Wilkie, was a pianist. Roger grew up in a musical environment and started playing the violin at the age of four. He has also performed in many of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall, the Royal Albert Hall, and the Sydney Opera House. Roger has won numerous awards and accolades throughout his career. In 1980, he won the Young Concert Artists International Auditions, which launched his career as a soloist. He has also won the Avery Fisher Career Grant, the Naumburg International Violin Competition, and the Paganini International Violin Competition. In addition to his solo career, Roger is also a sought-after chamber musician. He has performed with many of the world's leading chamber ensembles, including the Emerson String Quartet, the Guarneri String Quartet, and the Tokyo String Quartet. He has also collaborated with many of the world's leading pianists, including Emanuel Ax, Yefim Bronfman, and András Schiff. Roger is also a dedicated teacher and has taught at many of the world's leading music schools, including the Juilliard School, the Curtis Institute of Music, and the Colburn School. He is currently a professor of violin at the Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California. He has worked with many organizations to promote music education and has served on the board of directors of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association and the Colburn School.
