Avatar is a science fiction movie directed by James Cameron and premiered on December 18, 2009. The movie is set in the mid-22nd century, where humans are trying to mine a valuable mineral called unobtanium on the planet Pandora, which is inhabited by the Na'vi, a humanoid species. The movie follows the story of Jake Sully, a paraplegic marine who is sent to Pandora to infiltrate the Na'vi and gain their trust, but ends up falling in love with one of them and leading a rebellion against the humans. The soundtrack of Avatar was composed by James Horner, who had previously worked with Cameron on Titanic. The soundtrack was released on December 15, 2009, three days before the movie's premiere. The soundtrack features 14 tracks and has a runtime of 77 minutes. The first track of the soundtrack is called "You Don't Dream in Cryo. ..." and sets the tone for the rest of the soundtrack. It features a haunting melody played on a solo flute, which is later joined by a choir and orchestra. The second track, "Jake Enters His Avatar World," features a more upbeat and adventurous melody, which represents Jake's excitement at being able to walk again in his avatar body. The third track, "Pure Spirits of the Forest," is one of the most memorable tracks of the soundtrack. It features a beautiful melody played on a solo pan flute, which is later joined by a choir and orchestra. The track perfectly captures the beauty and mystery of Pandora's forests. The fourth track, "The Bioluminescence of the Night," features a more atmospheric and ambient sound, which represents the magical and otherworldly nature of Pandora's night sky. The fifth track, "Becoming One of 'The People' / Becoming One with Neytiri," features a romantic and emotional melody, which represents Jake's growing love for Neytiri and his acceptance into the Na'vi tribe. The sixth track, "Climbing Up Iknimaya - The Path to Heaven," features a more epic and grandiose sound, which represents the dangerous and challenging climb up the floating mountains of Pandora. The seventh track, "Jake's First Flight," is one of the most exciting tracks of the soundtrack. It features a fast-paced and exhilarating melody, which represents Jake's first flight on his banshee. The eighth track, "Scorched Earth," features a more ominous and foreboding sound, which represents the destruction and devastation caused by the humans on Pandora. The ninth track, "Quaritch," features a menacing and aggressive sound, which represents the villainous nature of Colonel Quaritch, the leader of the human forces on Pandora. The tenth track, "The Destruction of Hometree," is one of the most emotional tracks of the soundtrack. It features a tragic and mournful melody, which represents the destruction of the Na'vi's home and the loss of many lives. The eleventh track, "Shutting Down Grace's Lab," features a more somber and reflective sound, which represents the loss of hope and the realization that the humans will stop at nothing to get what they want. The twelfth track, "Gathering All the Na'vi Clans for Battle," features a more tribal and rhythmic sound, which represents the gathering of the Na'vi tribes for the final battle against the humans. The thirteenth track, "War," features a more intense and chaotic sound, which represents the brutal and violent nature of the final battle.
