Artist Info
Birth:October 23, 1990 in Paris, FranceLucas Debargue is a French classical pianist who has gained international recognition for his unique style and interpretation of classical music. Born on October 10, 1990, in Compiègne, France, Debargue grew up in a family of musicians. His father was a jazz pianist, and his mother was a singer. Debargue started playing the piano at the age of 11, and he quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. Debargue's early musical education was unconventional. He did not attend a conservatory or receive formal training in classical music. Instead, he taught himself to play the piano by listening to recordings and studying scores. He also developed an interest in other genres of music, such as jazz and rock, which influenced his playing style. Despite his lack of formal training, Debargue's talent was undeniable. In 2008, he won first prize at the Adilia Alieva International Piano Competition in Gaillard, France. This was his first major competition win, and it gave him the confidence to pursue a career in music. In 2011, Debargue decided to enter the prestigious International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow. This competition is known for its rigorous selection process and high level of competition. Debargue was one of 450 pianists who applied to participate, and he was one of only 30 who were selected to compete. Debargue's performance at the Tchaikovsky Competition was a turning point in his career. He played with a unique style that was both technically impressive and emotionally expressive. His interpretation of the music was unconventional, and it divided the judges and the audience. Some praised his performance as a breath of fresh air in the classical music world, while others criticized it as too idiosyncratic. Despite the mixed reactions, Debargue made it to the final round of the competition. He did not win first prize, but he was awarded the coveted Moscow Music Critics' Prize, which is given to the most interesting and original performer of the competition. This prize brought him international attention and launched his career as a professional pianist. After the Tchaikovsky Competition, Debargue began to receive invitations to perform at major concert halls around the world. He made his debut at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris in 2012, and he has since performed at the Berlin Philharmonic, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Carnegie Hall in New York. Debargue's performances are known for their emotional intensity and technical virtuosity. He has a unique approach to the music, which he describes as "spontaneous and improvisational." He does not follow the traditional interpretation of the music, but instead, he allows his emotions and instincts to guide his playing. In addition to his solo performances, Debargue has collaborated with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Mariinsky Orchestra, and the Philadelphia Orchestra. He has also recorded several albums, including a critically acclaimed recording of the Goldberg Variations by J.S. Bach. Debargue's career has been marked by several awards and honors. In 2016, he was awarded the Victoires de la Musique Classique, which is the most prestigious classical music award in France. He was also named "Newcomer of the Year" at the Echo Klassik Awards in Germany in 2017. Despite his success, Debargue remains humble and dedicated to his craft.More....
