Period:ClassicalGenre:ChamberMichel Rouilly was born on May 12, 1975, in Paris, France. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Michel showed a natural talent for music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Michel's parents recognized his potential and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He began taking formal piano lessons at the age of six and quickly progressed, winning his first competition at the age of eight. By the time he was a teenager, Michel had already performed in several prestigious venues across Europe, including the Royal Albert Hall in London and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. In 1993, Michel was accepted into the Paris Conservatory, where he studied under the tutelage of renowned pianist and teacher, Pierre-Laurent Aimard. During his time at the conservatory, Michel honed his skills and developed a deep understanding of classical music. He also began to experiment with contemporary music, which would later become a hallmark of his career. After graduating from the conservatory in 1997, Michel embarked on a successful career as a concert pianist. He quickly gained a reputation for his technical prowess and his ability to interpret complex pieces of music. He performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Sydney Opera House. One of Michel's most memorable performances was in 2001, when he performed Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5 with the London Symphony Orchestra. The performance was hailed as a triumph, with critics praising Michel's "dazzling technique" and "sensitive interpretation" of the piece. In addition to his solo performances, Michel also collaborated with other musicians and ensembles. He frequently performed with his mother, who was a member of the Paris Opera Orchestra, and he also worked with contemporary composers to create new works of music. Throughout his career, Michel received numerous awards and accolades for his contributions to classical music. In 2005, he was awarded the prestigious International Classical Music Award for his recording of Bach's Goldberg Variations. He was also named a Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French government in 2010. Despite his success, Michel remained humble and dedicated to his craft. He continued to practice for hours each day, always striving to improve his technique and interpretation of classical music. He also remained committed to promoting contemporary music, believing that it was important to keep classical music relevant and accessible to new audiences. Tragically, Michel's career was cut short when he passed away in 2015 at the age of 40. His death was a shock to the classical music world, and many mourned the loss of such a talented and dedicated musician. However, Michel's legacy lives on through his recordings and performances, which continue to inspire and captivate audiences around the world.More....
