Period:ModernGenre:ChamberJulien Quentin is a renowned classical pianist who has captivated audiences around the world with his virtuosic performances and sensitive interpretations of the great works of the piano repertoire. Born in Paris in 1974, Quentin showed an early aptitude for music and began studying the piano at the age of six. He quickly demonstrated a natural talent for the instrument, and by the time he was a teenager, he had already won several prestigious competitions and performed in major concert halls throughout Europe. Quentin's musical education was rigorous and comprehensive. He studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, where he received instruction from some of the most distinguished pianists of his generation, including Jacques Rouvier, Bruno Rigutto, and Jean-François Heisser. He also studied with the legendary pianist and pedagogue Maria João Pires, who had a profound influence on his musical development. Quentin's early career was marked by a series of impressive accomplishments. In 1994, he won first prize at the International Beethoven Competition in Vienna, which launched him onto the international stage. He went on to win numerous other awards and prizes, including the Young Concert Artists International Auditions in New York, the International Piano Competition in Dublin, and the International Piano Competition in Epinal. Quentin's reputation as a pianist of exceptional talent and sensitivity continued to grow, and he was soon in demand as a soloist with major orchestras and conductors around the world. He has performed with the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestre de Paris, the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, and many others. He has also collaborated with some of the most distinguished conductors of our time, including Sir Simon Rattle, Daniel Barenboim, and Christoph von Dohnányi. Quentin's repertoire is vast and varied, encompassing works from the Baroque era to the present day. He is particularly renowned for his interpretations of the music of Beethoven, Schumann, Brahms, and Debussy, but he has also championed the works of lesser-known composers such as Gabriel Fauré, Maurice Ravel, and Francis Poulenc. His performances are characterized by a deep musical understanding, technical brilliance, and a profound emotional intensity that has earned him critical acclaim and a devoted following. In addition to his work as a soloist, Quentin is also an accomplished chamber musician. He has collaborated with some of the world's leading instrumentalists and singers, including cellist Gautier Capuçon, violinist Renaud Capuçon, and soprano Diana Damrau. He is a regular guest at major chamber music festivals around the world, including the Verbier Festival, the Salzburg Festival, and the Edinburgh International Festival. Quentin's recordings have also received widespread critical acclaim. He has recorded for major labels such as Deutsche Grammophon, EMI, and Sony Classical, and his discography includes solo works as well as chamber music and concerto recordings. His recording of Schumann's Piano Concerto with the London Symphony Orchestra and conductor Daniel Harding was particularly well-received, and was named one of the best classical recordings of the year by several major publications. Despite his many accomplishments, Quentin remains humble and dedicated to his craft.More....
