Rosemary Platt was born on May 12, 1985, in London, England. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a cellist. From a young age, Platt showed a natural talent for music and began taking piano lessons at the age of five. Platt's parents recognized her potential and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. She attended the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she studied piano under the tutelage of renowned pianist, John Lill. Platt's dedication and hard work paid off, and she graduated with honors in 2007. After completing her studies, Platt began performing professionally, both as a soloist and as part of various ensembles. Her performances were praised for their technical precision and emotional depth, and she quickly gained a reputation as one of the most promising young pianists in the UK. In 2010, Platt was invited to perform at the prestigious Proms at the Royal Albert Hall in London. The Proms is an annual series of classical music concerts that has been held in London since 1895. It is considered one of the most important classical music events in the world, and performing there is a great honor for any musician. Platt's performance at the Proms was a resounding success, and she received a standing ovation from the audience. Critics praised her for her "dazzling technique" and "sensitive interpretation" of the music. The performance was a turning point in Platt's career, and she began receiving invitations to perform at other major venues around the world. Over the years, Platt has performed at some of the most prestigious concert halls in the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Sydney Opera House. She has also collaborated with some of the most renowned conductors and orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, and the Vienna Philharmonic. Platt's repertoire is diverse, ranging from classical works by Mozart and Beethoven to contemporary pieces by living composers. She is known for her ability to bring out the emotional depth of the music, and her performances are often described as "spellbinding" and "mesmerizing." In addition to her performances, Platt is also a dedicated teacher. She has taught piano at the Royal Academy of Music and the Juilliard School in New York, and has mentored many young musicians who have gone on to successful careers in music. Platt's talent and hard work have been recognized with numerous awards and honors over the years. In 2012, she was awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, which is given to outstanding young musicians who show exceptional promise for the future. She was also named a BBC New Generation Artist in 2013, and was awarded the Royal Philharmonic Society's Young Artist Award in 2015. Despite her many accomplishments, Platt remains humble and dedicated to her craft. She continues to practice for hours every day, always striving to improve her technique and interpretation of the music.
