He was the youngest of three children born to his parents, who were both musicians. His father was a pianist, and his mother was a violinist. From a young age, Niels showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Niels received his early music education at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen, where he studied piano under the tutelage of renowned pianist and pedagogue Anne Øland. He later went on to study at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hannover, Germany, where he received his Master's degree in piano performance. Throughout his career, Niels Muus has performed extensively throughout Europe, Asia, and the United States. He has appeared as a soloist with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. He has also collaborated with some of the most distinguished conductors of our time, including Sir Simon Rattle, Daniel Barenboim, and Zubin Mehta. One of the highlights of Niels Muus's career was his performance of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5 with the Berlin Philharmonic under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle. The performance was hailed by critics as "a triumph of virtuosity and musicality" and earned Niels widespread acclaim. In addition to his work as a soloist, Niels Muus is also an accomplished chamber musician. He has performed with many of the world's leading chamber ensembles, including the Emerson String Quartet, the Guarneri Quartet, and the Tokyo String Quartet. In addition to his work as a performer, Niels Muus is also a dedicated teacher.
