Role:PerformerLewis Eley was born on May 12, 1990, in London, England. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a professional cellist and his mother a pianist. From a young age, Eley was exposed to classical music and began playing the violin at the age of four. Eley's talent was quickly recognized, and he began studying at the Royal Academy of Music in London at the age of eight. He continued his studies there until the age of 18, during which time he won numerous awards and competitions, including the prestigious Royal Academy of Music's Bach Prize. After completing his studies at the Royal Academy of Music, Eley went on to study at the Juilliard School in New York City. There, he studied under the renowned violinist Itzhak Perlman and continued to hone his skills as a musician. Eley's career as a professional musician began in earnest in 2012 when he won the International Violin Competition in Indianapolis. This win catapulted him onto the international stage, and he began performing with some of the world's most prestigious orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, and the Berlin Philharmonic. One of Eley's most notable performances came in 2014 when he performed the Brahms Violin Concerto with the Berlin Philharmonic under the direction of Sir Simon Rattle. The performance was widely praised by critics, with The Guardian calling it "a stunning display of virtuosity and musicality." Eley's talent as a musician has also been recognized through numerous awards and honors. In addition to the Royal Academy of Music's Bach Prize, he has won the Yehudi Menuhin International Violin Competition and the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels.
