Most began her musical education at the age of six, studying piano with her mother. She showed great promise as a pianist, and by the age of ten, she had already given her first public performance. However, it was not until she was a teenager that she discovered her true passion for the cello. Most began studying the cello with the renowned Austrian cellist, Emanuel Brabec. She continued her studies there for several years, honing her skills and developing her unique style. In 1948, Most made her debut as a soloist with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra. The performance was a great success, and it marked the beginning of her career as a professional musician. Over the next few years, she performed extensively throughout Europe, earning critical acclaim for her virtuosity and musicality. In 1952, Most moved to the United States, where she continued to perform and teach. She quickly established herself as one of the leading cellists of her generation, and she was in high demand as a soloist and chamber musician. Throughout her career, Most was known for her passionate and expressive playing. She had a deep understanding of the music she played, and she was able to convey its emotional depth and complexity to her audiences. She was also known for her technical mastery of the cello, and she was able to execute even the most difficult passages with ease and grace. In addition to her performing career, Most was also a dedicated teacher. She taught at several prestigious institutions, including the Juilliard School, the Manhattan School of Music, and the University of Southern California. She was known for her rigorous and demanding teaching style, and many of her students went on to have successful careers as musicians.
