Artist Info
Period:RomanticModernGenre:ChamberConcertoKeyboardJacques Fevrier was a French classical pianist and composer who was born on May 22, 1900, in Paris, France. He was the son of a music teacher and began playing the piano at a young age. Fevrier showed exceptional talent and was soon enrolled in the Paris Conservatory, where he studied under the tutelage of Isidor Philipp and Marguerite Long. Fevrier's talent was quickly recognized, and he won several awards and prizes during his time at the Conservatory. In 1919, he won the first prize in piano performance, and in 1920, he won the first prize in chamber music. These awards helped to launch his career as a professional pianist. Fevrier made his debut as a soloist in 1921, performing with the Orchestre Lamoureux in Paris. He quickly gained a reputation as a virtuoso pianist and was in high demand for performances throughout Europe and the United States. He performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the London Symphony Orchestra. One of Fevrier's most notable performances was his debut at Carnegie Hall in New York City in 1928. He received critical acclaim for his performance, and the New York Times praised his "brilliant technique and musicality." Fevrier continued to perform at Carnegie Hall throughout his career, and he became known as one of the most accomplished pianists of his time. In addition to his career as a performer, Fevrier was also a composer. He wrote several works for piano, including a piano concerto, which he premiered in 1932 with the Orchestre de la Société des Concerts du Conservatoire in Paris. Fevrier's compositions were well-received, and he was praised for his ability to blend traditional classical forms with modern harmonies and rhythms. Fevrier's career was interrupted by World War II, during which he served in the French army. After the war, he resumed his career as a performer and composer. He continued to perform throughout Europe and the United States, and he also taught at the Paris Conservatory. One of Fevrier's most significant contributions to the world of classical music was his work as a teacher. He was known for his dedication to his students and his ability to inspire them to achieve their full potential. Many of his students went on to become successful pianists and composers in their own right. Fevrier received many awards and honors throughout his career, including the Legion of Honor, one of France's highest honors. He was also awarded the Grand Prix du Disque for his recording of the complete works of Claude Debussy. Jacques Fevrier died on August 9, 1979, in Paris, France. He left behind a legacy as one of the most accomplished pianists and composers of his time. His dedication to his craft and his commitment to teaching continue to inspire musicians around the world.More....
