Norbert Schmittberg was a renowned classical music artist who was born on May 12, 1965, in Vienna, Austria. He was the youngest of three children born to a family of musicians. His father was a violinist, and his mother was a pianist. Norbert showed an interest in music from a young age and began playing the piano at the age of four. Norbert's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He began taking piano lessons with his mother and later studied with renowned pianists in Vienna. Norbert's talent and dedication to music were evident from an early age, and he quickly gained recognition as a prodigy. In 1983, Norbert won first prize in the International Beethoven Piano Competition in Vienna, which launched his career as a professional pianist. He went on to perform in major concert halls around the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Berlin Philharmonic. Norbert's performances were known for their technical brilliance and emotional depth. He was particularly renowned for his interpretations of the works of Beethoven, Mozart, and Chopin. Norbert's recordings of these composers' works were highly acclaimed and won numerous awards, including several Grammys. In addition to his solo performances, Norbert was also a sought-after chamber musician. He frequently collaborated with other musicians, including violinists, cellists, and other pianists. Norbert's chamber music performances were known for their sensitivity and musicality, and he was widely regarded as one of the finest chamber musicians of his generation. Norbert's career was not without its challenges. He suffered from a chronic illness that sometimes affected his ability to perform. Tragically, Norbert's career was cut short when he passed away in 2012 at the age of 47.
