Genre:ChamberStephanie Jutt is a renowned classical flutist, chamber musician, and educator. She was born on August 22, 1962, in New York City, and grew up in a family of musicians. Her father was a jazz pianist, and her mother was a classical pianist. Jutt started playing the flute at the age of nine and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. Jutt attended the Juilliard School of Music in New York City, where she studied with Julius Baker, one of the most prominent flutists of the 20th century. After graduating from Juilliard, Jutt continued her studies at the Paris Conservatory, where she studied with Alain Marion, a renowned French flutist. Jutt's career as a professional musician began in the early 1980s when she joined the New York Philharmonic as a substitute flutist. She also played with other major orchestras, including the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. In 1984, Jutt joined the faculty of the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Music, where she has been a professor of flute and chamber music for over 30 years. She has also been a guest professor at numerous other universities and music schools, including the Juilliard School, the Paris Conservatory, and the Royal Academy of Music in London. Jutt is perhaps best known for her work as a chamber musician. She is the founder and artistic director of the Bach Dancing and Dynamite Society, a chamber music festival that takes place every summer in Madison, Wisconsin. The festival, which Jutt founded in 1992, has become one of the most highly regarded chamber music festivals in the United States. Jutt has also performed with numerous other chamber music ensembles, including the Pro Arte Quartet, the Chicago Chamber Musicians, and the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. She has recorded over 20 albums, many of which feature her performances as a chamber musician. In addition to her work as a performer and educator, Jutt has also been recognized for her contributions to the field of music. She has received numerous awards and honors, including the Distinguished Teaching Award from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the Wisconsin Arts Board Artist Fellowship, and the Wisconsin Alumni Association's Distinguished Alumni Award. Jutt's performances have been praised for their technical precision, musicality, and emotional depth. She is known for her ability to bring out the unique qualities of each piece of music she performs, whether it is a classical sonata or a contemporary work. One of Jutt's most memorable performances took place in 2006, when she performed the world premiere of a new work by composer John Harbison at the Bach Dancing and Dynamite Society festival. The piece, titled "Songs America Loves to Sing," was a tribute to American popular music, and Jutt's performance was widely praised for its virtuosity and emotional depth. Jutt's contributions to the field of music have been significant, both as a performer and as an educator. Her work as a chamber musician has helped to elevate the status of chamber music in the United States, and her dedication to teaching has inspired countless young musicians to pursue careers in music. In conclusion, Stephanie Jutt is a highly respected and accomplished classical flutist, chamber musician, and educator.More....
