Artist Info
Angelique Zuluaga is a Colombian-American classical pianist who has gained international recognition for her virtuosic performances and passionate interpretations of classical repertoire. Born in Bogotá, Colombia in 1993, Zuluaga began playing the piano at the age of four and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. Her parents, both music lovers, recognized her potential and enrolled her in private lessons with renowned Colombian pianist Ana Maria Orduz. Under Orduz's guidance, Zuluaga developed a deep love for classical music and began to excel in competitions and performances. At the age of ten, she won first prize in the National Piano Competition in Colombia, and at twelve, she was invited to perform at the prestigious International Piano Festival in Cartagena. These early successes fueled Zuluaga's passion for music and inspired her to pursue a career as a professional pianist. In 2007, Zuluaga and her family moved to the United States, where she continued her musical studies at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. There, she studied with renowned pianists Wha Kyung Byun and Alexander Korsantia, and honed her skills as a performer and interpreter of classical music. She also had the opportunity to perform in some of Boston's most prestigious venues, including Symphony Hall and Jordan Hall. After completing her undergraduate studies at the New England Conservatory, Zuluaga went on to earn a Master of Music degree from the Juilliard School in New York City. There, she studied with the legendary pianist Emanuel Ax, who praised her "remarkable talent and dedication to the art of piano playing." During her time at Juilliard, Zuluaga also had the opportunity to perform in some of New York's most iconic venues, including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. Since graduating from Juilliard, Zuluaga has established herself as one of the most exciting young pianists on the classical music scene. She has performed with orchestras around the world, including the Bogotá Philharmonic Orchestra, the Boston Pops Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. She has also been a featured soloist at numerous music festivals, including the Aspen Music Festival, the Tanglewood Music Festival, and the Ravinia Festival. Zuluaga's performances have been praised for their technical brilliance, emotional depth, and musical sensitivity. Reviewers have described her playing as "dazzling," "mesmerizing," and "spellbinding," and have noted her ability to bring out the nuances and subtleties of even the most complex pieces of music. She has also been praised for her commitment to contemporary music, and has premiered works by some of today's most innovative composers. In addition to her performing career, Zuluaga is also a dedicated teacher and mentor. She has taught masterclasses and workshops around the world, and has worked with young musicians at the New England Conservatory, the Juilliard School, and the Aspen Music Festival. She is passionate about sharing her love of music with the next generation of musicians, and is committed to helping them develop their own unique voices and artistic visions. Throughout her career, Zuluaga has received numerous awards and honors for her contributions to the world of classical music.More....
