Birth:1985 in Moscow, RussiaMaria Milstein is a Dutch violinist who has made a name for herself in the classical music world with her virtuosic playing and passionate interpretations of a wide range of repertoire. Born in Moscow in 1985, Milstein grew up in a family of musicians and began playing the violin at the age of five. Her parents, both professional musicians, recognized her talent early on and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Milstein's family moved to the Netherlands when she was nine years old, and she continued her musical studies there. She attended the Amsterdam Conservatory, where she studied with Ilya Grubert and Vera Beths, and later went on to earn a master's degree from the Conservatory of Lausanne in Switzerland, where she studied with Pierre Amoyal. Milstein's career as a soloist and chamber musician began to take off in the early 2010s, when she won several prestigious awards and competitions. In 2010, she won first prize at the Dutch National Violin Competition, and in 2011 she was awarded the Prix de Salon, a prize for young musicians given by the Swiss government. In 2013, she won the Dutch Classical Talent Award, which led to a series of high-profile performances and recordings. One of Milstein's most notable performances came in 2014, when she played the solo violin part in Vivaldi's Four Seasons with the Amsterdam Sinfonietta. The performance was recorded and released on CD, and received critical acclaim for Milstein's virtuosic playing and sensitive interpretation of the music. She has also performed as a soloist with other major orchestras, including the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne. In addition to her work as a soloist, Milstein is also an accomplished chamber musician. She is a founding member of the Van Baerle Trio, which has won several international competitions and released several acclaimed recordings. The trio has performed at major venues and festivals around the world, including the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Wigmore Hall in London, and the Berlin Philharmonic. Milstein's repertoire is wide-ranging, and she is known for her ability to bring a fresh perspective to both well-known and lesser-known works. She has recorded several albums of music by composers such as Schubert, Brahms, and Ravel, as well as lesser-known composers such as Leoš Janáček and Erwin Schulhoff. Her recordings have received critical acclaim for their technical precision and emotional depth. Milstein is also committed to promoting new music, and has premiered several works by contemporary composers. In 2016, she premiered a violin concerto by Dutch composer Joey Roukens with the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, and in 2018 she premiered a work by Dutch composer Willem Jeths with the Amsterdam Sinfonietta. Milstein's playing is characterized by its technical brilliance, emotional depth, and musical intelligence. She is known for her ability to bring out the nuances and subtleties of the music she plays, and for her passionate and expressive performances. Her career as a soloist and chamber musician continues to thrive, and she is widely regarded as one of the most exciting and talented young musicians of her generation.More....
