Jairo, born Mario Rubén González on June 22, 1949, is a renowned Argentine singer, songwriter, and guitarist. He was born in Cruz del Eje, a small town in the province of Córdoba, Argentina. Jairo's father was a musician, and he grew up surrounded by music. He started playing the guitar at a young age and quickly developed a passion for music. Jairo's musical career began in the late 1960s when he moved to Buenos Aires to pursue his dream of becoming a professional musician. He also performed at many prestigious music festivals, including the Montreux Jazz Festival and the Festival de la Canción de Viña del Mar. In 2000, Jairo released "Jairo Canta a Benedetti," an album of songs by the Uruguayan poet Mario Benedetti. The album was a critical and commercial success and earned Jairo several awards, including the Gardel Award for Best Male Pop Album. In 2010, Jairo celebrated his 40th anniversary in the music industry with a series of concerts in Argentina and Europe.
