Sarah Castle is a Canadian mezzo-soprano who has established herself as one of the most versatile and sought-after classical music artists of her generation. Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, on August 22, 1982, Castle grew up in a musical family and began singing at a young age. She studied voice at the University of British Columbia and the University of Toronto, where she earned a Bachelor of Music degree and a Master of Music degree, respectively. Castle's career as a professional singer began in 2006, when she won the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. This prestigious competition, which has launched the careers of many of the world's leading opera singers, recognizes young talent and provides them with opportunities to perform on some of the world's most renowned stages. Castle's victory in the competition was a major milestone in her career, and it opened doors for her to perform with some of the world's leading opera companies. One of Castle's early breakthrough performances came in 2008, when she made her debut with the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto. She sang the role of Rosina in Rossini's "The Barber of Seville," a role that showcased her vocal agility and comedic timing.
