His music has been performed by some of the world's leading orchestras and ensembles, including the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the Berlin Philharmonic. One of Vriend's most notable works is his Piano Concerto No. 1, which was premiered by the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in 1972.
