François Xavier Poizat is a French classical pianist who has gained international recognition for his virtuosic performances and sensitive interpretations of a wide range of repertoire. Born in 1985 in Lyon, France, Poizat began playing the piano at the age of six and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. He studied with renowned teachers such as Jacques Rouvier and Maria João Pires, and went on to win numerous awards and competitions throughout his early career. One of Poizat's early breakthrough performances came in 2004, when he won first prize at the prestigious International Piano Competition in Porto, Portugal. This victory helped to launch his career on the international stage, and he soon began performing in major concert halls and festivals around the world. In 2006, he was awarded the Prix d'Honneur at the International Piano Competition in Epinal, France, and in 2008 he won the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe Scholarship, which allowed him to continue his studies with Maria João Pires in Portugal. Over the years, Poizat has become known for his dynamic and expressive playing style, which combines technical precision with a deep emotional sensitivity. He has performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Orchestre National de France, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, the Orchestre de Paris, and the London Philharmonic Orchestra. He has also collaborated with some of the most respected conductors of our time, such as Myung-Whun Chung, Paavo Järvi, and Emmanuel Krivine. One of Poizat's most memorable performances came in 2010, when he played Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 with the Orchestre National de France under the baton of Myung-Whun Chung. The concert was broadcast live on French television and received widespread critical acclaim for Poizat's sensitive and nuanced interpretation of the piece. He has also been praised for his performances of works by Chopin, Liszt, and Debussy, among others. In addition to his work as a performer, Poizat is also a dedicated teacher and mentor to young musicians. He has taught masterclasses at institutions such as the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, and has served as a jury member for several international piano competitions.
