Ariel Lanyi is a classical pianist who was born on October 28, 1997, in Tel Aviv, Israel. He began playing the piano at the age of three and showed a natural talent for music from a young age. His parents, both amateur musicians, recognized his potential and encouraged him to pursue his passion for music. Lanyi's early musical education was guided by his mother, who was a piano teacher. He began taking formal lessons at the age of five and quickly progressed through the ranks of young pianists in Israel. By the age of eight, he had won his first competition, the Young Pianists Competition in Tel Aviv. As Lanyi continued to develop his skills as a pianist, he began to attract the attention of music professionals in Israel and beyond. In 2008, he was invited to perform at the International Keyboard Institute and Festival in New York City, where he received critical acclaim for his performance of Chopin's Sonata No. 2 in B-flat minor. Over the next few years, Lanyi continued to win competitions and perform at prestigious venues around the world. In 2010, he won first prize at the Young Artists Competition in Jerusalem, and in 2011, he was a finalist in the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, Poland. In 2012, Lanyi released his debut album, "Ariel Lanyi Plays Chopin," which received widespread critical acclaim. The album features Lanyi's interpretations of some of Chopin's most famous works, including the Ballade No. 1 in G minor and the Nocturne in C-sharp minor. Since the release of his debut album, Lanyi has continued to perform at major venues around the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York City and the Royal Festival Hall in London. He has also been a featured soloist with orchestras such as the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition to his performances, Lanyi is also a dedicated music educator. He has taught masterclasses at institutions such as the Royal College of Music in London and the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. He is also a faculty member at the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music at Tel Aviv University. Lanyi's talent and dedication to his craft have earned him numerous awards and accolades throughout his career. In 2013, he was awarded the prestigious Arthur Rubinstein Prize for Young Pianists, which is given to outstanding young pianists from around the world. He was also a recipient of the America-Israel Cultural Foundation Scholarship in 2014 and 2015. Despite his young age, Lanyi has already established himself as one of the most promising young pianists of his generation.
