Molly Carr is a renowned violist and chamber musician who has made a name for herself in the classical music world. Born in New York City, Carr began playing the viola at the age of six and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. She went on to study at the Juilliard School, where she earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in viola performance. Throughout her career, Carr has been recognized for her exceptional musicianship and has received numerous awards and accolades. In 2006, she was awarded the prestigious Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Graduate Arts Award, which provided her with funding to continue her studies at the Juilliard School. She was also a recipient of the Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans, which recognizes outstanding immigrants and children of immigrants who are pursuing graduate studies in the United States. Carr has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Berlin Philharmonic. She has collaborated with many of the world's leading musicians, including Itzhak Perlman, Yo-Yo Ma, and Joshua Bell. One of Carr's most notable performances was her solo debut with the New York Philharmonic in 2007. She performed the world premiere of a viola concerto by composer Richard Danielpour, which was written specifically for her. The performance was met with critical acclaim, and Carr was praised for her "rich, warm tone and impeccable technique." Carr is also a dedicated chamber musician and has performed with some of the world's leading ensembles, including the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and the Orion String Quartet. In 2010, she co-founded the Solera Quartet, which has quickly become one of the most sought-after young string quartets in the United States.
