Role:EnsembleTrio Testore is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2009. The ensemble is named after the famous Italian violin maker Carlo Giuseppe Testore, who lived in Milan in the 18th century. The trio consists of three members: violinist Hyun Jeong Hwang, cellist Min-Jung Kym, and pianist Ho-Yoon Chung. Hyun Jeong Hwang was born in South Korea and began playing the violin at the age of six. She studied at the Yewon School and the Seoul Arts High School before moving to the United States to attend the Juilliard School. She has won numerous awards, including the first prize at the 2006 International Violin Competition in Kloster Schöntal, Germany. Min-Jung Kym was born in South Korea and began playing the cello at the age of seven. She studied at the Yewon School and the Seoul Arts High School before moving to the United Kingdom to attend the Royal College of Music. She has won numerous awards, including the first prize at the 2005 International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians. Ho-Yoon Chung was born in South Korea and began playing the piano at the age of five. He studied at the Yewon School and the Seoul Arts High School before moving to the United States to attend the Juilliard School. He has won numerous awards, including the first prize at the 2004 International Piano Competition in Senigallia, Italy. The trio has performed in many prestigious venues around the world, including the Wigmore Hall in London, the Konzerthaus in Berlin, and the Carnegie Hall in New York. They have also performed at many music festivals, including the Edinburgh International Festival, the Salzburg Festival, and the Ravinia Festival. One of the highlights of Trio Testore's career was their performance at the 2012 BBC Proms. They performed Beethoven's Triple Concerto with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Jiří Bělohlávek. The performance was broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 and was highly praised by critics. In 2013, Trio Testore released their debut album, which featured works by Beethoven, Brahms, and Ravel. The album received critical acclaim and was nominated for a Classic BRIT Award. In addition to their performances, Trio Testore is also committed to music education. They have given masterclasses at many universities and conservatories around the world, including the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Juilliard School in New York.
