Orchestra Sinfonica Abruzzese is a classical music ensemble based in the Abruzzo region of Italy. The orchestra was founded in 1992 by a group of musicians who shared a passion for classical music and a desire to bring it to audiences in their local community. The founding members of the orchestra included conductor Marcello Bufalini, violinist Marco Serino, and cellist Giuseppe Lanzetta. Over the years, the orchestra has grown to include over 50 musicians, many of whom are from the Abruzzo region. One of the highlights of the orchestra's early years was their performance at the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, Italy in 1994. This prestigious festival is known for showcasing some of the world's best classical music ensembles, and the Orchestra Sinfonica Abruzzese was honored to be invited to perform. Since then, the orchestra has gone on to perform at many other major festivals and venues throughout Italy and Europe. They have also collaborated with some of the world's most renowned soloists, including pianist Martha Argerich and violinist Maxim Vengerov. In addition to their performances, the Orchestra Sinfonica Abruzzese is also committed to music education and outreach. They regularly hold workshops and masterclasses for young musicians in the Abruzzo region, and they have also performed concerts for schoolchildren and other community groups. Over the years, the orchestra has received many awards and accolades for their performances. In 2002, they were awarded the prestigious Premio Abbiati, which is considered one of the highest honors in the Italian classical music world. They have also been recognized for their recordings, including their 2010 album of works by Italian composer Ottorino Respighi. Today, the Orchestra Sinfonica Abruzzese continues to be a beloved and respected ensemble in the classical music world. They are known for their passionate performances and their commitment to bringing classical music to audiences of all ages and backgrounds.
