The Düsseldorfer Symphoniker is a classical music ensemble based in Düsseldorf, Germany. The orchestra was founded in 1920 as the Städtisches Orchester Düsseldorf (Municipal Orchestra of Düsseldorf) and has since become one of the most renowned orchestras in Germany. The ensemble has had a number of notable conductors over the years, including Eugen Szenkar, who served as the orchestra's first chief conductor from 1920 to 1924. Other notable conductors have included Wilhelm Schüchter, who served as chief conductor from 1947 to 1959, and Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, who served as chief conductor from 1986 to 1991. Today, the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker is led by chief conductor and artistic director Adam Fischer.
