Il Divo is a multinational classical crossover vocal group that was formed in 2003. The group consists of four members: Urs Bühler from Switzerland, Carlos Marín from Spain, David Miller from the United States, and Sébastien Izambard from France. Il Divo has become one of the most successful classical crossover groups in history, selling over 30 million albums worldwide. Urs Bühler was born on July 19, 1971, in Willisau, Switzerland. He grew up in a musical family and began singing at a young age. He studied music at the Conservatory of Lucerne and later moved to New York City to pursue a career in music. Carlos Marín was born on October 13, 1968, in Rüsselsheim, Germany, to Spanish parents. He grew up in Madrid, Spain, and began singing in a choir at a young age. He later studied music at the Royal Academy of Music in London. David Miller was born on April 14, 1973, in San Diego, California. He grew up in a musical family and began singing in a choir at a young age. He later studied music at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Ohio. Sébastien Izambard was born on March 7, 1973, in Paris, France. He began playing the piano at a young age and later studied music at the Conservatory of Nice. Il Divo was formed in 2003 by music manager and reality TV star Simon Cowell. Cowell had the idea to create a vocal group that combined classical music with pop music. He auditioned hundreds of singers from around the world before selecting Bühler, Marín, Miller, and Izambard. The group's name, Il Divo, is Italian for "divine male performer." Il Divo's debut album, "Il Divo," was released in 2004. The album was a commercial success, reaching number one on the charts in several countries, including the United Kingdom, the United States, and Canada.
