Pierce & Jonas Piano Duo is a classical music ensemble that has been captivating audiences with their unique blend of virtuosity and musicality since their founding in 2009. The duo consists of pianists Robert Pierce and Paul Jonas, who have been performing together for over a decade. Robert Pierce and Paul Jonas first met while studying at the Juilliard School in New York City. They quickly discovered a shared passion for chamber music and began performing together as a duo. After graduating, they decided to form Pierce & Jonas Piano Duo and dedicate themselves to exploring the vast repertoire for two pianos. The duo's performances are characterized by their technical precision, expressive playing, and deep musical understanding. They have been praised for their ability to seamlessly blend their individual voices into a cohesive whole, creating a rich and nuanced sound that is both powerful and delicate. One of the highlights of Pierce & Jonas Piano Duo's career was their performance at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. in 2012. The duo was invited to perform as part of the center's prestigious Fortas Chamber Music Concerts series, which showcases some of the world's most talented chamber musicians. Pierce & Jonas Piano Duo's performance was met with critical acclaim, with The Washington Post describing their playing as "dazzling" and "exquisite." In addition to their performance at the Kennedy Center, Pierce & Jonas Piano Duo has also performed at other major venues around the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York City, the Royal Festival Hall in London, and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. They have also been featured on numerous radio and television programs, including NPR's Performance Today and BBC Radio 3's In Tune. Pierce & Jonas Piano Duo has also been recognized for their outstanding musicianship with several awards and honors. In 2010, they were awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, which is given to exceptional young musicians who show great promise for the future. They were also named the winners of the 2011 Ellis Duo Piano Competition, which is held annually at the University of Missouri. Despite their many accomplishments, Pierce & Jonas Piano Duo remains committed to exploring new repertoire and pushing the boundaries of what is possible on two pianos. They continue to perform regularly around the world, delighting audiences with their virtuosic playing and deep musicality.
