Anna Huntley is a British mezzo-soprano who has established herself as one of the most exciting and versatile young singers of her generation. Born in London in 1987, Huntley grew up in a musical family and began singing at a young age. She studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she received a Bachelor of Music degree with first-class honors in 2009 and a Master of Arts degree in 2011. Huntley's career as a professional singer began in 2010, when she won the prestigious Kathleen Ferrier Award, a competition for young singers that has launched the careers of many of the UK's most successful opera singers. This award brought her to the attention of the opera world, and she quickly began to receive invitations to perform in some of the UK's most prestigious opera houses and concert halls. One of Huntley's early breakthrough performances came in 2012, when she made her debut at the Glyndebourne Festival Opera in the role of Cherubino in Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro." Her performance was widely praised for its energy, wit, and vocal agility, and it helped to establish her as a rising star in the opera world. In addition to the Kathleen Ferrier Award, she has won the John Christie Award, the Richard Tauber Prize, and the Susan Chilcott Scholarship, among others. She was also a finalist in the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition in 2013, where she was praised for her "rich, warm, and expressive voice" and her "natural stage presence."
