Artist Info
William Herbert was born on May 15, 1985, in London, England. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Herbert showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Herbert's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He began taking formal piano lessons at the age of six and quickly progressed, winning his first competition at the age of eight. By the time he was a teenager, Herbert had already performed in several prestigious venues across Europe, including the Royal Albert Hall in London and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. In 2003, Herbert was accepted into the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he studied under the tutelage of renowned pianist and teacher, Maria João Pires. During his time at the academy, Herbert honed his skills and developed a deep understanding of classical music. He also began to experiment with different styles of music, incorporating elements of jazz and blues into his performances. After graduating from the academy in 2007, Herbert began to establish himself as a solo artist, performing in concerts and recitals across Europe and Asia. He quickly gained a reputation for his technical prowess and his ability to connect with audiences through his emotive performances. One of Herbert's most notable performances came in 2010, when he was invited to perform at the Royal Festival Hall in London as part of the London Philharmonic Orchestra's 75th anniversary celebrations. Herbert performed Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5, also known as the Emperor Concerto, to critical acclaim. The performance was hailed as a triumph, with critics praising Herbert's technical skill and his ability to convey the emotional depth of the piece. In 2012, Herbert released his debut album, titled "Reflections." The album featured a mix of classical and contemporary pieces, including works by Chopin, Debussy, and Gershwin. The album was well-received by critics and helped to establish Herbert as a rising star in the classical music world. Over the years, Herbert has received numerous awards and accolades for his performances and recordings. In 2014, he was awarded the prestigious International Classical Music Award for his recording of Chopin's Nocturnes. The following year, he was named Young Artist of the Year at the Gramophone Classical Music Awards. Despite his success, Herbert remains humble and dedicated to his craft. He continues to perform in concerts and recitals around the world, and is known for his passionate and emotive performances. His love for music is evident in every note he plays, and he remains committed to sharing his passion with audiences around the world.More....
