Artist Info
The Saint John String Quartet is a renowned classical music ensemble that has been captivating audiences with their exceptional performances for over three decades. The quartet was founded in 1989 by four talented musicians who shared a passion for chamber music and a desire to bring their art to audiences across Canada and beyond. The founding members of the Saint John String Quartet were David Adams (violin), Danielle Sametz (violin), Christopher Buckley (viola), and David Miller (cello). All four musicians had extensive training and experience in classical music, having studied at some of the most prestigious music schools in North America and Europe. From the very beginning, the Saint John String Quartet was committed to excellence in performance and to expanding the repertoire of classical music. They quickly gained a reputation for their innovative programming, which included both traditional and contemporary works, as well as collaborations with other artists and composers. Over the years, the quartet has performed at some of the most prestigious venues in Canada and around the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and the Royal Albert Hall in London. They have also been featured on numerous radio and television programs, and have recorded several albums that have received critical acclaim. One of the highlights of the Saint John String Quartet's career was their performance at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia. They were chosen to represent Canada at the Cultural Olympiad, where they performed a program of Canadian and international works to an audience of thousands. The quartet has also been recognized with numerous awards and honors for their contributions to classical music. In 1992, they were awarded the prestigious Prix Opus for Best Concert of the Year by the Conseil québécois de la musique. They have also been awarded the East Coast Music Award for Best Classical Recording, and have been nominated for several Juno Awards. Despite changes in personnel over the years, the Saint John String Quartet has remained committed to their mission of bringing the beauty and power of classical music to audiences around the world. They continue to perform regularly, both as a quartet and in collaboration with other artists and ensembles, and are widely regarded as one of the finest classical music ensembles in Canada.More....
