Pablo Ferrández is a Spanish cellist who has gained international recognition for his virtuosic performances and musical sensitivity. Born on January 22, 1991, in Madrid, Spain, Ferrández began playing the cello at the age of three. His parents, both professional musicians, recognized his talent early on and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. Ferrández studied at the Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid, where he was mentored by renowned cellist Natalia Shakhovskaya. He also studied with Frans Helmerson at the Kronberg Academy in Germany and with Heinrich Schiff at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. Ferrández made his debut as a soloist with the Madrid Symphony Orchestra at the age of 13, and since then has performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Munich Philharmonic, the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. He has also collaborated with conductors such as Gustavo Dudamel, Valery Gergiev, and Zubin Mehta. One of Ferrández's most notable performances was his debut at the BBC Proms in 2016, where he performed the Elgar Cello Concerto with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. He has given masterclasses and workshops in Spain, Japan, and the United States, and has also collaborated with the Spanish National Orchestra on educational projects.
