Ross Ramgobin is a British baritone who has made a name for himself in the classical music world. Born in 1991 in London, Ramgobin grew up in a musical family and began singing at a young age. He attended the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, where he studied under renowned baritone Donald Maxwell. Ramgobin's career began to take off in 2015, when he won the prestigious Kathleen Ferrier Award. This award is given annually to a young singer who shows exceptional promise in the field of classical music. Winning the award gave Ramgobin the opportunity to perform at some of the UK's most prestigious venues, including Wigmore Hall and the Royal Opera House. Since then, Ramgobin has gone on to perform with some of the world's leading orchestras and opera companies. He has appeared with the Royal Opera House, English National Opera, and Welsh National Opera, among others. He has also performed at the BBC Proms, one of the most important classical music festivals in the world. One of Ramgobin's most notable performances was in the role of Schaunard in Puccini's La bohème at the Royal Opera House. The production was directed by Richard Jones and conducted by Emmanuel Villaume. Ramgobin's performance was praised for its warmth and humor, and he received rave reviews from critics. Ramgobin has also made a name for himself as a recitalist, performing in venues across the UK and Europe. He has a particular affinity for the music of Benjamin Britten, and has performed many of his works in recital. He has also recorded a CD of Britten's songs, which was released in 2018.
