Gottfried Bach was the son of Johann Christoph Bach, who was a musician and composer. He received his early musical training from his father and later studied with Johann Pachelbel, a famous German composer and organist. Gottfried Bach was a talented musician from a young age, and he quickly gained a reputation as a skilled keyboard player and composer. In 1703, Gottfried Bach was appointed as the organist at the St. Boniface Church in Arnstadt, Germany. In 1708, Gottfried Bach was appointed as the court musician for the Duke of Saxe-Weimar. In 1723, Gottfried Bach was appointed as the court musician for the Duke of Sachsen-Gotha.
