Marta Fontanals-Simmons is a British mezzo-soprano who has established herself as one of the most exciting and versatile artists of her generation. Born in London in 1988, she grew up in a musical family and began singing at a young age. She studied at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and the Royal College of Music, where she was a recipient of the prestigious Tagore Gold Medal. Fontanals-Simmons made her professional debut in 2012 as Cherubino in Mozart's "Le nozze di Figaro" at the Longborough Festival Opera. Since then, she has performed at some of the world's most renowned opera houses and concert halls, including the Royal Opera House, Glyndebourne Festival Opera, English National Opera, and the BBC Proms. One of Fontanals-Simmons' most notable performances was her portrayal of the title role in Handel's "Ariodante" at the 2016 Glyndebourne Festival Opera.
