Magali Simard-Galdès is a French-Canadian classical pianist who has gained international recognition for her virtuosic performances and musical interpretations. Born in Montreal, Canada in 1989, Magali began playing the piano at the age of four and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. Her parents, both musicians themselves, recognized her potential and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Magali's early musical education was shaped by her studies with renowned pianists and teachers in Canada and Europe. She received her Bachelor's degree in Piano Performance from the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, where she studied with Marc Durand. She then went on to complete her Master's degree at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln in Germany, where she studied with Pierre-Laurent Aimard and Tamara Stefanovich. Magali's talent and dedication to her craft quickly earned her recognition in the classical music world. In 2012, she won first prize at the Concours de Musique du Canada, one of the most prestigious music competitions in Canada. This was followed by a series of successful performances in Europe and North America, including appearances at the Festival de Lanaudière, the Festival de Musique de Saint-Barthélemy, and the Festival de Musique de Menton. One of Magali's most notable performances was her debut recital at the Wigmore Hall in London in 2015. The Wigmore Hall is one of the most prestigious concert venues in the world, and Magali's performance was met with critical acclaim. The Guardian praised her "impeccable technique and musicality," while The Times called her "a pianist of rare talent and insight." Magali has also collaborated with some of the world's leading orchestras and conductors. In 2016, she performed with the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal under the baton of Kent Nagano, and in 2018 she performed with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France under the direction of Mikko Franck. She has also worked with conductors such as Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Ludovic Morlot, and François-Xavier Roth. In addition to her performances, Magali is also a dedicated teacher and mentor. She has taught masterclasses at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal and the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln, and has served as a jury member for several international music competitions. Magali's musical style is characterized by her technical precision and emotional depth. She is known for her ability to bring out the nuances and subtleties of the music she plays, and for her ability to connect with audiences on a deep emotional level. Her repertoire includes works by classical composers such as Bach, Beethoven, and Chopin, as well as contemporary composers such as Ligeti and Messiaen.
