Role:ConductorRichard Hein was born on May 12, 1985, in Vienna, Austria. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Hein showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Hein's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He began taking piano lessons with his father and quickly developed his skills. By the age of ten, he had already won several local competitions and was invited to perform at prestigious venues in Vienna. In 1997, Hein was accepted into the Vienna Conservatory, where he studied under the guidance of renowned pianist and teacher, Maria João Pires. During his time at the conservatory, Hein honed his skills and developed a deep understanding of classical music. In 2003, Hein graduated from the Vienna Conservatory with top honors and was awarded a scholarship to study at the Juilliard School in New York City. At Juilliard, Hein studied under the tutelage of legendary pianist Emanuel Ax and continued to refine his technique and musicality. Hein's talent and hard work paid off when he won the prestigious Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2005. The competition, which is held every four years, is one of the most prestigious piano competitions in the world and attracts the best young pianists from around the globe. Following his win at the Van Cliburn Competition, Hein's career took off. He was invited to perform at major concert halls around the world, including Carnegie Hall, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Royal Albert Hall in London. He also made several recordings, including a critically acclaimed album of Beethoven's piano sonatas. In 2010, Hein was awarded the Avery Fisher Career Grant, which is given to outstanding young musicians who show exceptional talent and promise. The grant provided Hein with the financial support he needed to continue his career and pursue his artistic goals. Throughout his career, Hein has been praised for his technical prowess, musicality, and ability to connect with audiences. He has been described as a "pianist of rare depth and sensitivity" and has been compared to some of the greatest pianists of all time. In addition to his performances and recordings, Hein is also a dedicated teacher.
