Artist Info
Benjamin Beilman is a renowned classical music artist who has made a name for himself as a violinist. Born on August 14, 1989, in Ithaca, New York, Beilman grew up in a family of musicians. His father, a pianist, and his mother, a violinist, were both professors of music at the Ithaca College School of Music. Beilman began playing the violin at the age of five and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. Beilman's early musical education was shaped by his parents, who provided him with a solid foundation in classical music. He studied with Almita and Roland Vamos at the Music Institute of Chicago and later with Ida Kavafian and Pamela Frank at the Curtis Institute of Music. Beilman also attended the Perlman Music Program, where he studied with Itzhak Perlman. Beilman's talent as a violinist was recognized early on, and he began to receive invitations to perform at major music festivals and venues. In 2010, he won the Young Concert Artists International Auditions, which led to his debut at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Beilman has since performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Philadelphia Orchestra, the San Francisco Symphony, and the London Philharmonic Orchestra. One of Beilman's most notable performances was his debut with the New York Philharmonic in 2015. He performed the Brahms Violin Concerto under the baton of Alan Gilbert, receiving critical acclaim for his "virtuosic playing" and "emotional depth." Beilman has also performed at major music festivals, including the Ravinia Festival, the Aspen Music Festival, and the Marlboro Music Festival. In addition to his performances as a soloist, Beilman is also an active chamber musician. He has collaborated with many of the world's leading musicians, including pianist Yefim Bronfman, cellist Alisa Weilerstein, and violinist Joshua Bell. Beilman is a member of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center's CMS Two program, which provides young musicians with opportunities to perform chamber music in New York City and around the world. Beilman's talent as a violinist has been recognized with numerous awards and honors. In addition to winning the Young Concert Artists International Auditions, he has received the Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship, the Avery Fisher Career Grant, and the London Music Masters Award. Beilman was also named a BBC New Generation Artist in 2012, which led to performances with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the BBC Philharmonic. Beilman is known for his passionate and expressive playing, which has been described as "fiery" and "intense." He is also known for his commitment to new music, having premiered works by composers such as David Ludwig, Frederic Rzewski, and Ryan Francis. Beilman is a strong advocate for music education and has worked with organizations such as the Sphinx Organization, which supports young musicians from underrepresented communities. In addition to his performing career, Beilman is also a dedicated teacher. He has taught at the Curtis Institute of Music and the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University and has given masterclasses around the world. Beilman is committed to passing on his knowledge and experience to the next generation of musicians. In conclusion, Benjamin Beilman is a talented and accomplished classical music artist who has made a significant impact on the world of music.More....
