He was born on 12th June 1948 in London, England. From a young age, Iveson showed a keen interest in music, and his parents encouraged him to pursue his passion. He started playing the piano at the age of six and later learned to play the trumpet. Iveson's musical journey began when he joined the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain at the age of 16. He was a talented musician and quickly rose through the ranks to become the principal trumpet player. He continued his studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he received a scholarship to study trumpet performance. After completing his studies, Iveson began his professional career as a freelance musician. He played with various orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and the English Chamber Orchestra. He also performed with renowned conductors such as Sir Georg Solti, Sir Colin Davis, and Sir Simon Rattle. One of Iveson's most significant achievements was his appointment as the principal trumpet player of the London Symphony Orchestra in 1979. He held this position for 25 years and played a crucial role in the orchestra's success. During his tenure, the London Symphony Orchestra performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in New York and the Royal Albert Hall in London. Iveson was also a prolific soloist and chamber musician. He performed with various ensembles, including the London Brass, the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble, and the London Sinfonietta. He recorded numerous albums, including "Trumpet Concertos" and "Baroque Trumpet Concertos," which received critical acclaim. In addition to his performing career, Iveson was also a respected music educator. He taught at the Royal Academy of Music and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.
