The Dussek Piano Trio is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2007. The trio is named after the Czech composer Jan Ladislav Dussek, who was a prominent figure in the classical music scene during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The ensemble is made up of three highly skilled musicians: pianist Maksim Štšura, violinist Saeka Matsuyama, and cellist Jonathan Dormand. Maksim Štšura was born in Estonia and began playing the piano at the age of six. He went on to study at the Tallinn Music High School and the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. Saeka Matsuyama was born in Japan and started playing the violin at the age of three. She later studied at the Toho Gakuen School of Music and the Royal Academy of Music in London. Jonathan Dormand was born in the United Kingdom and began playing the cello at the age of seven. He studied at the Royal Northern College of Music and the Royal Academy of Music. The Dussek Piano Trio has performed at numerous prestigious venues around the world, including the Wigmore Hall in London, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and the Salle Cortot in Paris. The ensemble has also been featured at several major music festivals, such as the Cheltenham Music Festival, the Bath International Music Festival, and the Oxford Chamber Music Festival. One of the highlights of the Dussek Piano Trio's career was their performance at the 2010 Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition. The ensemble was awarded the Royal Philharmonic Society's Henderson Chamber Ensemble Award, which is given to outstanding chamber ensembles in the United Kingdom. The trio was also a finalist in the 2011 Osaka International Chamber Music Competition in Japan. The Dussek Piano Trio has recorded several albums, including a collection of works by Dussek himself.
