Born on May 22, 1980, in Sofia, Bulgaria, Ganev showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of five. He was raised in a family of musicians, with his father being a composer and his mother a pianist, which greatly influenced his musical development. Ganev's talent was quickly recognized, and he began studying at the National School of Music "Lyubomir Pipkov" in Sofia at the age of seven. He continued his studies at the National Academy of Music "Pancho Vladigerov" in Sofia, where he received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Piano Performance. During his studies, Ganev won numerous awards and competitions, including the National Competition for Young Pianists "Svetoslav Obretenov" and the International Piano Competition "Citta di Marsala" in Italy. After completing his studies in Bulgaria, Ganev continued his education at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hannover, Germany, where he studied with renowned pianist and pedagogue Karl-Heinz Kämmerling. He also received guidance from other notable pianists, such as Dmitri Bashkirov, András Schiff, and Menahem Pressler. Ganev's career as a concert pianist began to take off in the early 2000s, with performances in Bulgaria, Germany, Italy, France, Spain, and the United States. He has performed with many orchestras, including the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, the Hannover Chamber Orchestra, the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana, and the National Symphony Orchestra of Bulgaria. He has also collaborated with conductors such as Emil Tabakov, Lior Shambadal, and Nayden Todorov. One of Ganev's most notable performances was his debut at the Berlin Philharmonic in 2006, where he performed Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Berlin Symphony Orchestra. The performance was highly praised by critics, with one reviewer describing Ganev's playing as "a revelation of the highest order." His recording of Chopin's 24 Preludes was released in 2010 and received critical acclaim, with Gramophone magazine describing it as "a performance of great distinction and insight." In addition to his career as a performer, Ganev is also a dedicated teacher. He has taught at the National Academy of Music "Pancho Vladigerov" in Sofia and the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hannover.
