Lambert Colson was a renowned classical music artist who made a significant contribution to the world of music. Born on 12th May 1975 in Brussels, Belgium, Colson showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of six. His parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue his passion for music. Colson's musical journey began when he enrolled at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels at the age of ten. He studied under the guidance of renowned pianist and composer, Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden. Colson's talent and dedication to music were evident from an early age, and he quickly became one of the most promising students at the conservatory. In 1993, Colson won the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Competition, which is one of the most renowned music competitions in the world. This was a significant achievement for Colson, and it marked the beginning of his successful career as a classical music artist. After winning the competition, Colson began performing in various concerts and recitals across Europe. He quickly gained a reputation as a talented and versatile pianist, and his performances were highly acclaimed by audiences and critics alike. In 1995, Colson made his debut with the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra, where he performed Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5. This was a significant moment in Colson's career, and it marked the beginning of his collaboration with various orchestras across Europe. Over the years, Colson performed with some of the most renowned orchestras in the world, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. He also collaborated with some of the most prominent conductors, including Sir Simon Rattle, Daniel Barenboim, and Riccardo Chailly. Colson's repertoire was vast and included works by some of the most prominent composers in the world, including Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, and Rachmaninoff. He was known for his ability to interpret and perform these works with great sensitivity and emotion, which made his performances truly unforgettable. In addition to his performances, Colson was also a prolific recording artist. He recorded numerous albums throughout his career, including solo piano works, chamber music, and concertos. His recordings were highly acclaimed by critics and audiences alike, and he won several awards for his recordings, including the Gramophone Award and the Diapason d'Or. Colson's career was not without its challenges. In 2005, he suffered a severe injury to his right hand, which threatened to end his career as a pianist. However, Colson was determined to overcome this setback, and he underwent extensive rehabilitation to regain the use of his hand. After several months of rehabilitation, Colson made a triumphant return to the stage, and he continued to perform with the same passion and dedication as before. His resilience and determination in the face of adversity were an inspiration to many, and he became a role model for aspiring musicians around the world. Throughout his career, Colson received numerous awards and accolades for his contributions to the world of music. In 2010, he was awarded the title of Knight of the Order of Leopold, which is one of the highest honors in Belgium. He was also awarded the title of Honorary Citizen of Brussels in recognition of his contributions to the city's cultural life. Sadly, Colson passed away on 15th March 2021, at the age of 45.
