Tomás Luis de Victoria was a Spanish composer of the Renaissance period, known for his sacred music. One of his most famous works is the 'Litaniae de Beata Virgine', a collection of liturgical pieces dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The 'Litaniae de Beata Virgine' was composed in 1573, during Victoria's time as a chaplain and musician at the Collegium Germanicum in Rome. It was first performed in the same year at the church of Santa Maria sopra Minerva in Rome. The work consists of nine movements, each based on a different invocation of the Virgin Mary in the Litany of Loreto. The movements are as follows: 1.
