However, Danilo's family and the people of Pontevedro are opposed to their relationship because of Alice's American background. In the end, Danilo and Alice overcome their differences and get married. Die Dollarprinzessin was a huge success when it premiered in 1907 and has since become one of the most popular operettas of all time. Its catchy tunes and romantic storyline have made it a favorite of audiences around the world. The operetta has been adapted for film and television several times and continues to be performed in theaters today.
