Antonio Zacara da Teramo was a prominent composer of the late medieval period, known for his contributions to the development of the Ars Nova style of music. Born in Teramo, Italy in the mid-14th century, little is known about his early life and musical training. However, it is believed that he received his education in music at the University of Paris, which was a center of musical innovation during the time. Zacara's career as a composer began in the early 1370s, when he was appointed as a singer at the court of Queen Joanna I of Naples. It was during this time that he began to compose music, and his works quickly gained popularity among the aristocracy of Naples. In 1377, he was appointed as the maestro di cappella (music director) at the court of the Duke of Milan, where he remained for several years.
