Fête Rustique Ensemble is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2015 by a group of musicians who shared a passion for chamber music. The ensemble is based in New York City and is known for its innovative programming and dynamic performances. The founding members of Fête Rustique Ensemble are violinist Emily Daggett Smith, cellist Arlen Hlusko, and pianist Yegor Shevtsov. All three musicians are accomplished performers who have studied at some of the world's most prestigious music schools, including the Juilliard School and the Curtis Institute of Music. Since its founding, Fête Rustique Ensemble has performed at some of the most prestigious venues in the United States, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Kennedy Center. The ensemble has also been featured on numerous radio programs, including NPR's "Performance Today" and WQXR's "Young Artists Showcase." One of the highlights of Fête Rustique Ensemble's career was its performance at the 2017 Chamber Music America Conference, where the ensemble was selected to perform as part of the "New Music Marathon." The ensemble's performance was praised for its "exquisite musicianship" and "innovative programming." Fête Rustique Ensemble has also been recognized for its commitment to contemporary music. In 2018, the ensemble was awarded a grant from the New York State Council on the Arts to commission a new work by composer Caroline Shaw. The resulting piece, "Plan and Elevation," was premiered by Fête Rustique Ensemble in 2019 and has since been performed by other ensembles around the world. In addition to its performances, Fête Rustique Ensemble is also committed to music education. The ensemble has conducted masterclasses and workshops at schools and universities throughout the United States, and has worked with young musicians through programs such as the Juilliard School's Music Advancement Program.
