Ross Karre is a renowned percussionist, composer, and multimedia artist who has made significant contributions to the world of classical music. Born in 1983 in New York City, Karre grew up in a family of musicians and was exposed to music from a young age. He began playing the drums at the age of six and quickly developed a passion for percussion. Karre attended the Manhattan School of Music, where he studied percussion with Christopher Lamb and composition with Reiko Fueting. He also studied at the Yale School of Music, where he earned a Master of Music degree in percussion performance. During his time at Yale, Karre was a member of the Yale Percussion Group, which performed contemporary classical music and premiered new works by emerging composers. After completing his studies, Karre began performing with various orchestras and ensembles, including the New York Philharmonic, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the International Contemporary Ensemble. He also collaborated with composers such as Steve Reich, John Adams, and Kaija Saariaho, and performed in venues such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Walt Disney Concert Hall. In addition to his work as a percussionist, Karre is also a composer and multimedia artist. He has created numerous works that combine music, video, and other visual elements, and has collaborated with artists from a variety of disciplines. His multimedia works have been performed at festivals and venues around the world, including the Venice Biennale, the Edinburgh International Festival, and the Holland Festival. One of Karre's most notable performances was his collaboration with composer Steve Reich on the multimedia work "Three Tales."
