The founding members of Battalia Continuo Group were violinist and artistic director, Héctor Vásquez, cellist, Juan Carlos Mendoza, and harpsichordist, Juan Carlos Muñoz. The group was later joined by other talented musicians, including flutist, Ana María Raga, and violist, Juan Carlos Arango. The ensemble's name, Battalia Continuo, is derived from the title of a piece by German composer, Heinrich Biber. The piece, Battalia a 10, is a musical depiction of a battle, complete with the sounds of gunfire and marching soldiers. The name reflects the group's commitment to exploring the full range of emotions and experiences that can be expressed through music. Battalia Continuo Group has performed extensively throughout Colombia and has also toured internationally, performing in countries such as Mexico, Ecuador, and the United States.
