Roy's musical journey began when he joined the Royal Academy of Music in London at the age of 18. He studied under the guidance of renowned pianist and composer, Sir Adrian Boult. During his time at the academy, Roy honed his skills and developed a deep understanding of classical music. After completing his studies, Roy began performing at various concerts and events. His first major performance was at the Royal Albert Hall in London, where he played Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5.
