Hilde Coppe was born on May 12, 1985, in Brussels, Belgium. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a cellist. From a young age, Hilde showed a natural talent for music and began playing the violin at the age of four. Hilde's parents recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. She began taking lessons with renowned violin teachers in Belgium and quickly gained recognition for her exceptional talent. At the age of 12, Hilde won first prize in the Belgian National Violin Competition, which marked the beginning of her professional career. Hilde continued to study music at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, where she received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in violin performance. During her studies, she had the opportunity to work with some of the most renowned violinists in the world, including Maxim Vengerov and Itzhak Perlman. After completing her studies, Hilde began performing professionally and quickly gained a reputation as one of the most talented young violinists in Europe. She performed with some of the most prestigious orchestras in the world, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the New York Philharmonic. One of the highlights of Hilde's career was her performance at the 2008 Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo, Norway. She was invited to perform alongside some of the biggest names in music, including Alicia Keys, Annie Lennox, and Andrea Bocelli. Her performance was widely praised and helped to raise her profile on the international stage. In addition to her performances with orchestras, Hilde also established herself as a soloist and chamber musician. She performed in some of the most prestigious concert halls in the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Hilde's talent and hard work were recognized with numerous awards and honors throughout her career. She won first prize in several international violin competitions, including the Yehudi Menuhin International Violin Competition and the Queen Elisabeth Competition. She was also awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, which is given to exceptional young musicians who show great promise for the future. Despite her success, Hilde remained humble and dedicated to her craft. She continued to practice and perform regularly, always striving to improve her skills and bring joy to audiences around the world. Tragically, Hilde's career was cut short when she was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in 2015. She underwent treatment and continued to perform whenever possible, but her health deteriorated rapidly. She passed away on March 9, 2017, at the age of 31. Hilde's legacy lives on through her recordings and the memories of those who were fortunate enough to see her perform. She was a true artist who dedicated her life to music and inspired countless others to do the same. Her talent, passion, and dedication will never be forgotten.
