Jacqueline Kerrod is a renowned classical music artist who has made a name for herself in the world of harp music. Born in New Zealand, Kerrod grew up in a family of musicians and was exposed to music from a very young age. Her mother was a pianist, and her father was a composer, so it was only natural that Kerrod would develop a love for music. Kerrod began playing the harp at the age of nine and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. She studied under some of the best harpists in New Zealand and went on to attend the University of Auckland, where she earned a Bachelor of Music degree in harp performance. After completing her studies, Kerrod moved to the United States to further her career as a harpist. She attended the Manhattan School of Music in New York City, where she earned a Master of Music degree in harp performance. During her time in New York, Kerrod had the opportunity to study under some of the most renowned harpists in the world, including Susan Jolles and Nancy Allen. Kerrod's talent as a harpist quickly caught the attention of the classical music world, and she began to receive invitations to perform at some of the most prestigious venues in the world. One of her most notable performances was at Carnegie Hall in New York City, where she performed as a soloist with the New York Youth Symphony. In addition to her solo performances, Kerrod has also been a member of several orchestras and ensembles throughout her career. She has performed with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic, among others. Kerrod's talent as a harpist has also earned her numerous awards and accolades throughout her career. In 2007, she was awarded the prestigious Anne Adams Award for harp performance, which is given annually to the top harpist in New Zealand. She has also been a finalist in several international harp competitions, including the USA International Harp Competition and the Israel International Harp Contest. In addition to her career as a performer, Kerrod is also a dedicated teacher and has taught harp at several universities and music schools throughout the United States and New Zealand. She is currently a faculty member at the University of Auckland, where she teaches harp performance. Kerrod's repertoire as a harpist is diverse and includes works from a wide range of composers and genres. She has performed works by classical composers such as Bach, Mozart, and Debussy, as well as contemporary composers such as John Cage and Philip Glass. Despite her success as a harpist, Kerrod remains humble and dedicated to her craft. She continues to practice and perform regularly, always striving to improve her skills as a musician. Her passion for music and her dedication to her art have made her one of the most respected and admired harpists in the world today.
