Janina Ruh is a classical music artist who has made a name for herself as a pianist and chamber musician. Born in Germany in 1989, Ruh began playing the piano at the age of six and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. She went on to study at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln, where she earned her Bachelor of Music degree in 2012 and her Master of Music degree in 2014. Throughout her career, Ruh has been recognized for her exceptional talent and has received numerous awards and accolades. In 2010, she won first prize at the International Piano Competition in Enschede, Netherlands, and in 2012, she was awarded the prestigious DAAD Prize for outstanding academic achievement. In 2014, she was a finalist in the International German Piano Award, and in 2015, she won the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe Scholarship. Ruh has also had the opportunity to perform at some of the world's most renowned concert halls and festivals. In 2013, she made her debut at the Berlin Philharmonic, performing Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23 in A major with the Berlin Symphony Orchestra. She has also performed at the Beethovenfest Bonn, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, and the Rheingau Musik Festival, among others. In addition to her solo performances, Ruh is also an accomplished chamber musician. She has collaborated with a number of renowned musicians, including cellist Daniel Müller-Schott and violinist Arabella Steinbacher. Together, they have performed at the Salzburg Festival, the Lucerne Festival, and the Verbier Festival, among others. Ruh's repertoire is diverse and includes works by a wide range of composers, from Bach and Mozart to contemporary composers such as György Ligeti and Thomas Adès. She is particularly known for her interpretations of the works of Robert Schumann, and in 2016, she released a critically acclaimed recording of his piano works on the Genuin label. Despite her many accomplishments, Ruh remains humble and dedicated to her craft. She continues to practice and perform regularly, always striving to improve and grow as a musician.
